TASC

 FIRE, AIR AND ACOUSTIC SOLUTIONS

Tasc Fire Air and Acoustic Sealing have been providing an excellent service for our customers in the construction industry, NHS and the private sector for over 10 years. In that time we have completed hundreds of projects on time and on budget.

Tasc are a fully accredited member of the FIRAS third party accredited installers scheme established through Warrington Fire Research.  As a FIRAS registered contractor we specialize in the specification, recommendation and installation of high quality passive fire protection systems for which we are able to issue certificates of conformity upon job completion.  FIRAS is the only recognized independent accreditation body for fire protection installers.  It is a part of the building regulations Approved Document B, that third party accredited installers are used when providing fire protection to buildings.

“Third party accreditation and registration of installers of systems, materials, products or structures provide a means of ensuring that installations have been conducted by knowledgeable contractors to appropriate standards, thereby increasing the reliability of the anticipated performance in fire.”, approved document B, section B, page 11

Our work is subject at any time to inspection through this body and as such this gives you a level of confidence in our work that other non-accredited contractors cannot provide. All Tasc group operatives are undergoing training and have relevant industry qualifications and as such we employ a motivated and qualified workforce who are constantly assessed by our team.

All Tasc operatives have full CSCS status and NVQ qualification along with SMSTS (site manager safety training) and strive to ensure that all works are carried out safely and to a good standard. All works are fully assessed prior to commencement to ensure that all any potential hazards are identified and measures to prevent and/or reduce risk are taken. Our NEBOSH qualified health and safety management will ensure that full method statements and risk assessments are produced and delivered to our supervisors and operatives

FIRE DAMPER TESTING AND MAINTENANCE

Fire dampers are crucial passive fire protection products used in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning ducts to prevent the spread of fire inside the ductwork through fire-resistance rated walls and floors. In the event of a rise in temperature, the fire damper closes, usually activated by a thermal element. This melts at temperatures higher than ambient but low enough to indicate the presence of a fire, allowing springs to close the damper blades. Fire dampers can also close following receipt of an electrical signal from a fire alarm system utilizing detectors remote from the damper, indicating the sensing of heat or smoke in the building occupied spaces or in the duct system. As they are open most, if not all of the time, it is vital to ensure that they will still close effectively when required. By providing a barrier beyond which the fire cannot pass, effective fire dampers save lives; so regular fire damper testing (known as drop testing) as well as fire damper cleaning and maintenance is both a legal requirement and a critical part of building fire safety management.

Tasc Ltd is one of the UK’s leading specialist buildings services providers offering a fire damper testing, cleaning and maintenance service, in accordance with BS 9999:2017. This recently updated guidance now specifies that all fire dampers should be drop tested, cleaned and maintained at least every year. This is because normal use of the ventilation system gathers an accumulation of contamination on the fire damper and its operational parts. This must be removed and the fire damper tested regularly to ensure that it operates as designed, should a fire occur. In a healthcare setting, additional care is needed, so Tasc also complies with Health Technical Memorandum (HTM) 03-01: Specialised ventilation for healthcare premises Part B: Operational management and performance verification. In care applications Tasc will help the client to agree a regular testing interval with the local fire prevention officer.

Fire Dampers create a barrier between compartment walls to stop the spread of fire through ductwork.

Should a fire damper fail to shut due to lack of maintenance fire will spread to essential escape routes.
